False bookings in the airport belt

Airport hotels are anonymous by design: hundreds of rooms, guests who stay one night, corridors that look the same on every floor. That anonymity suits a traveller. It also makes a hotel near the runways an easy place to send someone to a door nobody intended to answer, and that is the case this term exists for.

What the house counts as false

A request sent under someone else's name, or a made-up one; a number, account or profile belonging to somebody else; a booking dreamt up for a laugh or a wager; a knock at an empty room, where the booker never planned to be there. What joins them is intent at the moment of booking. A passenger whose inbound was diverted to another airport, and who says so in the thread, has cancelled rather than deceived, and is handled under the cancellation policy like anyone else.

What follows

The record is kept: the booking, and every name, number and account used to make it. Those identifiers go out to other reputable Amsterdam houses, whose therapists can then recognise them before a lift ride rather than after one. When the case calls for it, the relevant authorities receive a report. None of this depends on whether money changed hands, because dodging a deposit is often the whole point.
