The belt stops. The last few bags go round twice and are claimed, the screen changes to another flight, and you are standing beside an empty carousel with a tag receipt in your hand. Lost luggage at Schiphol is not rare, and it is almost never permanent, but it does leave you walking into a hotel room with nothing except what you boarded in. The question we get in that situation is a practical one: can I still book something tonight, or does it need a suitcase I do not have.
It does not need the suitcase. Here is why, and here is what is worth sorting out before the knock.
What an in-room session actually requires
Less than people think. We work outcall only, which means the therapist arrives equipped to work in a room she has never seen. She brings the oils, the towels and whatever the chosen format uses. The hotel provides a bed, a shower, hot water and soap. You provide yourself, washed and reasonably awake.
That list contains nothing from your bag. Not a robe, not a special set of clothes, not a bottle of anything. The only item on it you might be short of is a clean change for afterwards, and that is a problem for tomorrow morning rather than for tonight.
Lost luggage at Schiphol: sort the desk before the booking
The baggage report is the part that takes time, and it is worth finishing before anything else. Stand in the queue, file the report, keep the reference number somewhere you will find it at three in the morning. Many travellers are told the bag will be sent on to the hotel once it turns up, which is where one small precaution earns its place.
When you check in, ask the front desk to hold any delivery for you at reception rather than ringing the room. Couriers bringing on delayed bags keep their own hours, and a phone going off in the middle of a booked session is an interruption nobody needs. The bag will still be downstairs in the morning.
When to send the message
From the baggage hall, once the report is filed and you know roughly when you will be at the hotel. Airport hotels are arranged rather than dispatched on a fixed window, so the timing is agreed in the thread rather than assumed, and a message sent from the terminal gives the best choice of start. Send the hotel name, the time you expect to be in the room, a length, and anything you already know about tomorrow. The reply arrives in about ten minutes.
If your hotel is in the city rather than out by the runways, the arrival in the centre runs on a standing forty to sixty minutes from confirmation, so there is less need to write early. Either way, give yourself the time to shower before the start rather than trying to fit it in after the message.
Choosing a format with only a carry-on
Every format on the menu works with no luggage, but they ask different things of you afterwards.
- Erotic oil massage is the easiest. Warm oil, long strokes, a towel at the end. A shower afterwards is pleasant rather than necessary.
- Nuru uses a gel and a waterproof sheet that she brings, and it does want a proper rinse afterwards. With no conditioner and no clean shirt in the room, some people prefer to save it for a night with the suitcase back.
- Sensual and body-to-body sit between the two. Neither needs anything from you beyond a warm room.
If you flew long-haul and have been in the same clothes for a day, the oil format has an extra virtue: it sends you to bed warm and loose in a room where the only garment you own is hanging over a chair.
The money question when the wallet travelled but the cash did not
Most people keep wallet, phone and passport on their person, so a missing bag rarely touches payment. If yours did go in the hold, or the cash you meant to use was packed away, card and crypto both work at the door. Cash is accepted in any major currency at the day's rate, so the notes left over from the last country are as good as euros. Nothing is paid before she arrives.
What to wear to open the door
Whatever you flew in, or the hotel robe if the room has one. Nobody at the door is inspecting your wardrobe. If the travel clothes feel too far gone, shower first and put the robe on; if there is no robe, a towel and a sensible sense of humour will do. It is, for once, a genuinely good excuse.
Why tonight can still be a good night
A missing bag feels like the day has gone wrong, and in a small way it has. But the evening itself is untouched. You still have a room, a quiet building and hours you had planned to fill. Nothing about the session depends on what is in the suitcase, and a warm, slow hour is a better way to end a day like that than repeatedly refreshing the tracking page.
